## A name is a starting point, not an answer
Starting point
What it tells you
What is still a question
The ingredient
GHK-Cu is copper bound to a peptide: a short chain made from the blocks that form proteins.
Will it go on the skin or be given as a shot?
The skin-care name
A skin-care label may call it copper tripeptide-1.
What does this product claim to do?
The research
There are few studies in people, and most are about skin creams.
Did the study test a cream or a shot for the problem I want help with?

Ask what is being offered and what studies in people support it. An ingredient name alone cannot answer those questions.

### Is it a real, approved treatment?

GHK-Cu is a real ingredient. That does not mean a medicine containing it has approval.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which oversees US drugs, has approved no medicine containing GHK-Cu as of September 30, 2026.

On September 30, 2026, the FDA treats GHK-Cu shots separately from GHK-Cu used without shots.

Ask whether the offer is a skin product or a shot. Then ask what studies support it, who makes it and what the whole visit would cost.

[Understand the FDA records. Read what the lists can tell you about skin products and shots.](/common-questions/)

[Check who would treat you. Find doctor and pharmacy licence records and prepare questions for a visit.](/care-notes/)
